MEET CHRIS FISCHER

"Chris Fischer: Guardian of the Neighborhood"

— Headline featured by the Oakland Park Business Association

Chris Fischer is a proud Floridian, Emmy Award-winning journalist, REALTOR®, community leader, and candidate for the Oakland Park City Commission. Since making Oakland Park his home in 2016, Chris has dedicated himself to serving residents, strengthening neighborhoods, and ensuring that City Hall remains transparent, accountable, and responsive to the people it serves.

Chris currently serves as President of the Corals of Oakland Park Neighborhood Association and represents Oakland Park as a member of the Broward County Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), where he works alongside regional leaders on transportation, infrastructure, safety, and long-range planning that will shape Oakland Park's future for generations to come. He also previously served three terms on the Oakland Park Planning & Zoning Board and is a graduate of the City's Local Government Academy.

Known by many as a "Guardian of the Neighborhood" for his tireless advocacy, Chris has spent years working to protect the character of Oakland Park while embracing smart, responsible growth. He believes every resident deserves a voice and has worked to unite neighborhoods on both the east and west sides of Oakland Park, ensuring every part of our city is represented, respected, and included in shaping Oakland Park's future.

As President of the Corals of Oakland Park Neighborhood Association, Chris has led community initiatives that make a real difference. He has partnered with local businesses to provide holiday gifts for children and families in need, worked with the Oakland Park Library to bring Little Free Libraries to Coral Heights, and consistently advocated for improvements that enhance neighborhood quality of life. He also worked with city staff and the Archdiocese of Miami to help preserve public access to Cherry Creek Park and has been a strong supporter of Oakland Park's small business community by encouraging grants, partnerships, and opportunities that help local businesses thrive.

For more than two decades, Chris held public officials, coaches, and organizations accountable as an Emmy Award and Associated Press Award-winning journalist with NBC Miami and as an NFL on CBS sideline reporter. His career was built on asking tough questions, listening carefully, investigating the facts, and reporting with integrity. Today, he brings that same commitment to transparency, accountability, and honest leadership to Oakland Park City Hall. Chris believes residents deserve open government, clear communication, access to public information, and leaders who are willing to answer difficult questions and stand behind their decisions.

As a husband, father, business professional, and longtime community advocate, Chris understands the importance of protecting neighborhoods while planning responsibly for the future. He believes Oakland Park's greatest strength is its people, and that by bringing together residents from every neighborhood, supporting local businesses, and encouraging thoughtful redevelopment, the city can continue to grow without losing its unique character.

Chris's priorities are straightforward: unite our community, strengthen transparency and accountability at City Hall, protect our neighborhoods, support public safety, invest wisely in infrastructure and parks, and ensure every tax dollar is spent responsibly. He believes residents should always have a meaningful voice in the decisions that shape their city.

Chris would be honored to earn your trust and your vote for Oakland Park City Commission. Together, we can build a more transparent, accountable, and united Oakland Park—one where every neighborhood is heard, every resident is respected, and City Hall works for the people.
